Arroz a la cubana (Cuban-style rice)

The Cuban-style rice that we know in Spain is an adaptation of the cuban rice. Chef Nando shows you how to prepare it, is simple and delicious!!

 

Ingredientes (para 4 personas):

  • 400 grs round rice
  • 500grs Little chopped tomato
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 bananas
  • ½ onion
  • Garlic
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • Oil, salt, water
  • Black pepper, laurel y ground cumin
  • Cooked jam (optional)

 

Preparación

 Fry the rice in a frying pan with garlic and laurel. We add more than twice the quantity of water than rice, a pinch of salt too. Cook on a slow heat for 18-20 minutes. Then remove it from the heat.

 To make tomato sauce, we fry a bit of chopped onion with oil and a couple of garlic. Then we add the tomato, the sugar, a pinch of salt and ground cumin and we fry for 15 minutes, till the tomato becomes dense and fried.

 We fry the chopped bananas with oil o with butter, and the eggs also. Put all the ingredients together on the rice in an attractive and gracious way and… enjoy the meal!!
